The time for closed shoes begins in autumn at the latest. That way you can get through the less comfortable half of the year with the best protection against rain and storms. For your enjoyment of pleasant Birkenstock® comfort in your closed models as well, we recommend „upgrading” them with The Blue Footbed®.
The Blue Footbed® offers you many benefits: it supports, guides and strengthens your foot muscles and holds your heel in a natural manner. Unlike conventional inlays, it doesn't cause excessive padding and ensures comfortable weight distribution. Thanks to its natural materials - such as cork and latex with a bed cover made of silk - the climate surrounding the foot is perfectly regulated.
The Blue Footbed® is available in two versions: The Footbed „Tradition“ to counterbalance the higher arch for shoes with a heel and The Footbed „Sport“ for the support of the foot in flexible models with less or no heel.

FOOTBED TRADITION
For shoes with a heel.
The all-round rim of The Footbed Tradition was given a somewhat lower design as shoes with heels generally show a higher degree of stability and are able to guide the foot perfectly. The higher arch of the foot needs to be counterbalanced in a natural manner, however: The higher longitudinal arch support of the footbed ensures this.

FOOTBED SPORT
For shoes with less or no heel.
The rim has a generally higher design so as to best support the foot itself even with shoes with more flexible upper materials. Due to little or no arch in the heel area, the longitudinal arch support is only slightly pronounced in order to reinforce the foot where it seems to need it.
