Birkenstock has always continued to refine and improve its products to promote healthy feet. Only Birkenstock is distinguished by an elongated foot guide at the back of the shoe. This holds the feet firmly in the footbed. A perfect guide ensures a natural walking motion.

The buckles
Each buckle is powder-coated to protect it against corrosion so it can withstand heavy stress and strains for many years.
To make the buckles sturdier on the uppers, we clamp the buckles onto the material in four places.



The buckles are attached to the uppers with the utmost care and attention:
The clamps are curved inwards so they sink into the material and are no longer visible (shown per the drawing on the right, enlarged and as cross-section).

The sole
Birkenstock also puts special emphasis on the soles in use. The soles we use not only feature superb shock absorbing properties, they also even out imbalances of the walking surface. Our soles are extremely lightweight long-lasting and durable.
Their high degree of abrasion resistance ensures a long life. This precludes one-sided wear and abrasion, thus averting any negative effects on one's posture.
